About Prop 28

Starting in the 2023–24 academic year, the California Department of Education (CDE) will distribute funds to local educational agencies (LEAs) for TK–12th grades. To utilize these funds, school sites, principals, and program directors must create a plan outlining how the money will be spent.

Schools are permitted to allocate up to 20% of the funding obtained from Proposition 28 for arts educational programs and collaborations, including the hiring of organizations like TinkerLab. The CDE will also offers a waiver option that allows schools to exceed the funding limitations specifically for arts educational partnership programs. To obtain the waiver, a written request from the school’s principal must be submitted along with the necessary documentation.

Art & Creativity Workshops

TinkerLab offers high quality, affordable visual arts workshops, where we immerse educators in creativity-boosting art projects. Participants will gain effective strategies to incorporate art into their classroom teaching. Workshops include hands-on art-making, small-group discussions, and take-away materials.

The TinkerLab studio is located in beautiful Palo Alto, CA, about 45 minutes south of San Francisco. Our creative space can accommodate up to ten people.
